SVHS Band History

        The Spring Valley High School Band is composed of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.  The band was created with the consolidation of Buffalo, Ceredo-Kenova, and Vinson High Schools in 1998. The first director was Tommy Thompson with Tom Chaffin and Scott Wood serving as assistant directors and teaching in the three middle schools. The first band consisted of 198 marching members. The band makes up approximately 15% of the total enrollment of 1200 at SVHS. Spring Valley High School is well noted for it's band's winning tradition. Since the schools inception, The Marching Timberwolves, have won numerous awards at the many competitions it has participated in. The band has also performed at the Sugar Bowl, Walt Disney World, MGM Studios, and many amusement parks.
